Cy
Twombly triptych painting called "Three studies from
the Temeraire", part of the Art Gallery of
New South Wales collection. Three Studies from the Temeraire
by abstract
artist Cy Twombly was
purchased by the Art Gallery of NSW for $4.5 million Australian
Dollars in 2004.
"This is a great independent work of art by the
most influential, and certainly distinctive and independent
artists of our time. The acquisition of this triptych
is in many ways a one-off - it is a great, empowered
and individual moment that both lifts and expands the
Gallery's collections and its image."
Edmund Capon, Director of the Art Gallery of New South
Wales
